My husband's car broke down this week, and we have had the unfortunate job of getting him to work every morning. Now mind you, he leaves at 6:00am. My daughter who is enjoying her last few days of not having to get up, is not very happy with this situation. Last night before bed, she asked; "Do we have to take dad to work in the morning?" I answered "I'm afraid so." She thought for a moment and smiled and said; "I wish we could just get him a broom, then I could sleep." I told her; "Or, if he could just apparate, or even take the floo network, we could both sleep." My poor husband is the receipient of many of my daughter and my "magical" insider jokes. When he doesn't understand what we are talking about, she just tells him "Dad, pick up a Harry Potter book, and you'll get it." Then she will look at me and shake her head and say; "Muggles"

That is so cute. Does he generally like to read or not? Is he interested in ever reading the books?

Now to post a moment on behalf of my brother, Mark...
"I was thinking about how he all of a sudden started saying how happy he was to have gotten himself re-sorted into Slytherin and how great it was. Then I thought about what just recently happened and the first thing to come into my mind was, 'There's not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin.'"

He does like to read, he just works so many hours, he generally doesn't get alot of time to read. He does watch the movies with us, but he has the attention span of a gnat sometimes. LOL! As I was reading your moment, the first thought that went through my mind was; I hope he doesn't go bad. How funny! I can't wait to get my results, I want to proudly display my house! My little girl is keeping her fingers crossed that she will be in Gryffindor of course!

And I'm guessing the job he has doesn't allow any time to read at it then? At least he watches the movies, so he shouldn't be completely lost when you two make comments.

And he went bad, very bad.

And you gave me an idea. I'm working on avatars to show which house and year (such as my Professor avatar) for the players of the rpg, but I'll make avatars of the house shields right now and add them to the avatar list on this board. So even those who don't play the rpg can show their house in their avatar if they wish to. How's that?

Oh and lastly, my moment for today...
My brother came into my room and handed me a letter that came in the mail, then went "Hooo, Hooo" and started to walk away. I asked, "Why are you hooting like an owl?" He just turned around, looked at me, pointed to the letter and gave me a look as if to say, "Get it?" Then it dawned on me that he was playing Owl Post and I started laughing and couldn't believe I didn't recognize that at once!

First, congratulations Mark! Now, in answer to my husbands job, he builds houses, I don't think they do alot of reading on the job. LOL! You would think he wouldn't be totally lost, but sometimes I wonder if he pays any attention at all when he watches the movies with us. I know he loves to aggrivate our little girl by calling Hermionie, Her Hiney(I don't think that is spelled right, sorry) it infuriates our daughter. The last time he did it she told him that if he did it again she was going to see if he could be sent to Azkeban.
Also, I love the Potterholic Moment you sent Marauder, that was so funny!
My Potterholic Moment this week actually involves my husband. As I told you, we have been getting my husband to work, while his car is in the shop. We left early the other morning, and it was very foggy out. My husband looked at my little girl, and said; "I hope the Death Eaters aren't out." My little girls eyes got big and she smiled and answered; "If they are, I'll just make my Patronus, don't worry." Then I had to explain to my husband what a Patronus is. Later that day, I asked my little girl what her Patronus would be, she answered; "A horse, they are fast, and big, they would get rid of death eaters fast!"

LOL Uh, no, I don't guess that you'd be able to read doing construction. You'd wind up hurting yourself doing that!
And tell your daughter I know just how aggravating that is. My dad used to tease me about Mickey Mouse when I was little. He would start to sing the mousketeer song and I'd get all excited then he'd sing "M-I-C-K-E-Y... R-A-T, Mickey Rat" and I would say, "Noooo!" It was all in fun, but, man, it would drive me up a wall LOL
I'm so proud of your husband though for making his own Potterholic moment there. Yay for him!
Ooo, and your daughter's comment gives me an idea - we don't have a thread for "What would your Patronus be?" I'll go make us one... *goes to make one*

I have just got to relate this, as I was reading the local newspaper today, in the region section there was a huge picture of a woman sitting outside reading The Deathly Hallows. Of course, I was eager to read the story. What a let down! It turned out to be a story about how people are stealing cell phones to get people's personal information. I wanted to just call the paper and tell them they should be ashamed for making me read a story that I honestly did not want to read, and then I thought, that was pretty clever, most would have just passed on the story. I would imagine many read it that would not have otherwise. I know it got me.

With every day there are new Potterholic Moments to share. This one involves my husband. Out of nowhere today, without being asked, my husband began washing dishes. Amazed by this turn of events, I immediately thought; someone must have confunded him, he would never do this on his own! If the person responsible for this particular confunding is reading this, I extend a very large thank you. It made my day! LOL!

Hmm, I don't know so much about Confundus... maybe someone mixed up some Polyjuice and is just impersonating him! Nah, not likely... I'd say that he's under the Imperius curse.

Today I realized another Potterholic moment of sorts. I was talking to my mom about something that recently happened and I realized that twice in my life now I've been really treated very badly by a member of the opposite sex and afterwards I refuse to use their name and come up with horrible nicknames to use instead so that I don't have to say it (it really does help because it makes them like a non-person). While doing that today I realized it's quite like how everyone avoids using Voldemort's name.

That is a great Potterholic way to handle that situation, and just look at what happened to "You know who" in the end. Evil always gets its reward!

Another day, another wonderful way to express being totally addicted to being a Potterholic! I opened my home myspace page yesterday to have a message to read, it turned out to be from Emma Watson's official myspace page. Miss Watson(or her staff) sent a belated birthday wish to my nine year old daughter. I called her in and read the message to her. I thought she was going to cry. She went running out of the house and yelled to her father who was outside; "Emma Watson wished me a happy birthday!" Her father came in and said "Who is Emma Watson?" I just looked at him and laughed and replied; "Muggles"

Hmm, so really it's Taylor's Potterholic moment too!
That is just so great! I am so happy for her! Ooo, you should print it out for her to keep or put up on her wall. Well, that's what I would do :D

Good itea! I think I will do that, she already has her room wallpapered in Harry Potter posters. We are kind of fanatics around here. I just wish they had posters of the adult characters. I would love to have a huge poster of Sirius to look at as I go to sleep each night. My husband might not like it, but he will live. LOL!!
